Description

Homework for my drawing class. we had to draw a paper bag and an item of our choice and shade it using cross hatching. Now I can go to sleep. Will I, probably not. If I do I'll be late to my class (Sad considering it's at one, who sleeps in for an afternoon class?)

Using everything I know to help someone out
First and foremost: expand your pencil usage. Try ranging from 4h to about 4b or 6b. 4h to fill out your basic shapes and keeping it as light as possible. As you go on begin moving up towards the 2b, using the 4 and 6 b for the darkest spots of shading. Focus less on line work for cross hatching-try to focus on pure form filling it out only by thinking about it in shape form.
The bag is the highlight of this piece by far. The back left corner looks the most natural to me and I think that if you loosen up a bit on the bottle it could be just as good.
What I do like about this piece is that while you mainly used a lighter pencil you fortunately did not make the mistake many make by using a basic 2b and digging into the paper to try and make it darker. Congrats, you're a step ahead.
I feel that if you redid this several times(even if you dont want to...do eet anyways!) you would certainly find yourself thinking less about what your brain wants you to see and start drawing what you really see-even if it looks stupid or wrong. It sounds tedious and useless but it never hurts to do something a few times over until its perfecto. Think less and just...let go. You'll be a pro no time if you can do that
